Political Candidates Want To Cold Call Your Cell Phone

I oppose H.R. 3035 (“To amend the Communications Act of 1934 to permit informational calls to mobile telephone numbers,”) because I believe that it is an invasion of time and quiet enjoyment.  Not only is it not courteous in the most basic definition of the word, it immediately inspires a feeling of resistance in the person listening.  If we are to be realistic and not politically idealistic, the majority of people who receive cold calls do not want them and want nothing to do with the product being offered.

It is absurd to think that expanding the capability of cold calls as well as making it impossible to opt out of these calls constitutes anything short of forced advertisement.  Furthermore, if robotic cold calls were a favorable way to do business, the national Do Not Call registry would not exist, and it would not be lawful to sue companies who violate it.  This motion is clearly based on pressure from debt collection agencies and the like; it is not devised to help the taxpayers at all.  It serves companies and political campaigners, not citizens.  I want no part of this bill and am sad to see this is how the government feels about the people it is supposed to serve.
